Understanding Anycast IP for Global Latency

The Latency Challenge

In a globalized digital economy, users are everywhere. Serving them from a single location inevitably leads to high latency for those furthest away. This is where Anycast IP technology changes the game.

How Anycast Works

Unlike Unicast, where one IP address corresponds to one physical server, Anycast allows multiple servers across the globe to announce the same IP address. The internet's routing protocol (BGP) automatically directs user traffic to the topologically nearest server.

Benefits for VPS Users

For our Windows VPS and RDP clients, this means:

  • Lower Latency: Users connect to the closest data center.
  • High Availability: If one node fails, traffic is automatically rerouted to the next available node.
  • DDoS Mitigation: Attacks are distributed across the entire network surface, diluting their impact.

AIHOSTON's Network Backbone

We've integrated Anycast routing into our core infrastructure, ensuring that your applications are always responsive, no matter where your users are located.
