Mastering Windows RDP: Security & Automation
Learn how to secure, automate, and optimize your Windows Remote Desktop experience for maximum productivity.
What is RDP & Why Use AIHostOn for Windows?
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a proprietary protocol developed by Microsoft which provides a user with a graphical interface to connect to another computer over a network connection. AIHostOn provides pre-configured Windows Server instances (2019, 2022) that are optimized for minimal latency and high frame rates, making them ideal for remote work, automation, and trading. Our Windows images are stripped of telemetry and bloatware, ensuring that every cycle of the CPU is dedicated to your actual workload.
Hardening Your RDP Connection
RDP is a common target for brute-force attacks. To secure your instance, we recommend three critical steps: 1. Change the default RDP port (3389) to a high-range custom port. 2. Enable Network Level Authentication (NLA). 3. Use a complex 20+ character password. At AIHostOn, our hardware firewalls provide an additional layer of protection, allowing you to whitelist only specific IP addresses that can access your RDP port. We also recommend disabling the 'Guest' account and ensuring that only specific users have the right to log on through Remote Desktop Services.
